Plan to Workout Based on Location

It’s been quiet on my side because our family has been moving.

We’re staying with my parents while we transition.

And that made me reflect on something I hadn’t made explicit until now.

Your Environment Shapes Your Workout

In our old place, the gym was not nearby at all. But it was nice to be outside instead. They weather was good, and much less cars. Because of that the air was nice and clear.

So what was my Movement Menu out there?

  • Morning stretches before the baby wakes up
  • Long runs outdoors
  • Quick 15-30 minute home bodyweight workouts

That was my routine for the last 6 months.

Your Workouts Will Always Evolve

Now that we’re settled here with my parents in the city, what are my options?

There are a lot of classes and gyms nearby. And there are some new fitness trends I want to check out. Also, I’m nearer to some friends which means I can workout with them too.

Plus, since I’m with extended family, there are more eyes on our baby daughter.

So to me that means:

  • I can do some long gym sessions
  • I can explore new classes or workouts in the city
  • I can recruit people to workout with me

That’s going to be the plan for now!

What are your different locations?

and what kinds of exercise can you do around those locations?

Here are a few things to scout for:

  • Find gyms, studios, and fitness centers nearby.
  • Check for parks, trails, or outdoor spaces for running or bodyweight exercises.
  • Explore community centers or local sports clubs for facilities or classes.
  • Consider your home for workout spaces.
  • Check out nearby swimming pools or aquatic centers.
  • Look for climbing gyms or bouldering facilities.
  • Look for yoga or pilates studios.
  • Find sports leagues or pickup games in your neighborhood.
  • Research bike routes or bike-friendly areas

Consider your schedule and how various workouts fit into your daily routine.

By understanding your surroundings, you can create a fitness plan that is diverse and adaptable, keeping you motivated.
