One month ago, when I started working on the ‘Five Minute Movements,’ my goal was simple
Help people who feel too busy to get any exercise in their day (including me)
I wanted to help some friends and come up with a solution for myself.
Why not create a series of short, efficient exercises that could fit into any busy schedule?
I chose movements that are quick and effective, so that I could do them on the busiest of days and feel like “I’ve done enough for my health today.”
My original goal was to get them out on December 1…
but I got stuck for a bit
Why? I Let Perfectionism Get to Me
And it hit me
In aiming for the ‘Perfect’ Five Minute Movements, I was forgetting the essence of the entire program!
Don’t worry about getting it 100% right
Make it practical and doable, and that’s enough.
Remember: Perfectionism is a form of Procrastination
This is a trap that many of us fall into, especially when we’re woking on something important to us (like your health)
On the surface, aiming for perfection seems noble. We tell ourselves “we want to do this right.” But there’s a thin line where this starts to hinder rather than help.
We get stuck researching, tweaking, waiting for the ‘right’ moment– which by the way never comes.
In a way, we are just delaying because we are afraid.
And the antidote is action!
All progress, no matter how imperfect, is better than staying put.
With the ‘Five Minute Movements’, I had to remind myself that the goal was to create a practical, accessible fitness solution, not an immaculate masterpiece.
Here’s Your Sign to Stop Overthinking and Start Moving
The biggest hurdle is often our mindset.
Overthinking can lead to paralysis by analysis. But here’s the good news: each time you choose to move, you’re breaking down that barrier.
You’re teaching your mind that action is possible, achievable, and enjoyable.
Just Start, and Keep Going
if you’ve been on the fence, wondering if this is for you, take this as your sign.
Try the ‘Five Minute Movements.’
Let them be your gateway to a healthier, more active lifestyle.
